Taipei, Qatar produced an epic 3-2 comeback victory over title-holders Iran in the quivering final showdown of the 6th AVC Cup for Men at the University of Taipei (Tianmu) Gymnasium on Wednesday.
Qatar topped Group C with victories over Vietnam and Thailand. The Qatari team defeated South Korea in the quarter-final.
In the semi-final, Qatar defeated Japan, winner of 2015 and 2017 editions, 3/1 on Tuesday to qualify for the final.
Iran topped Group B with victories over Australia and Taiwan, before beating Vietnam in the quarter-final and defeating Taiwan in the semi-final.
In the final match, Iran won the first and second sets 25/23, 25/21, but the Qatari team fought back and won three sets in a row 25/22, 25/18, and 15/10 to win the championship.
