Qatar Presides over ICAO Technical Cooperation Committee First Meeting

The State of Qatar chaired Tuesday the first meeting of the Technical Cooperation and Implementation Support Committee of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Council at its 330th session in Montreal, Canada.

Permanent Representative to ICAO Essa Abdullah Al Malki represented the State of Qatar at the meeting.

The Committee is responsible for providing aid and advice to the ICAO Council, reviewing cooperation policies and activities, technical support and training, operational plans, assessing the effectiveness of ICAO’s departments, and implementing ICAO’s Technical Cooperation Program at the regional levels. It also considers the challenges hindering the states’ development of their civil aviation sectors, and determines the mechanisms for providing appropriate support to them to enhance their operational and technical capacities.

In June, 2023, the State of Qatar’s Al Malki was named chairperson of the ICAO Council’s Technical Cooperation Committee in a session that brought together representatives of the ICAO member states.
