Kuala Lumpur, The Qatari U14 tennis team qualified to the quarterfinals of the Asia-Oceania Final Qualifying event for ITF World Junior Tennis Competition being held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia until April 07.

Qatar reached the quarterfinals after beating China 2-1 in their third group match on Wednesday.

In the quarterfinals, the Qatari team will take on their Japanese counterparts who led the other group.

The state of Qatar is represented by Nasser Al Yafei, Rashed Nawaf and Meshari Nawaf.

Qatar began their campaign in the event with a 1-2 defeat against New Zealand in the first match, then they edged out Chinese Taipei in their second match.

The event features the participation of China, Japan, Thailand, Australia, Korea, Chinese Taipei, Qatar, India, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Syria, New Zealand, Uzbekistan and Sri Lanka.

The four top teams will qualify to the ITF World Junior Tennis Competition to be staged in Czech Republic in August 2019.
