Luis Antonio Jimenez was the star of the show, scoring a brace in the 49th and 70th minute. Al Arabi had to play the final 15 minutes with 10 players, after Mohammed Shaaban was sent off for a second bookable offense.

The results moves Al Arabi to seventh place with 23 points. Al Gharafa meanwhile are fifth and the defeat is a bitter blow to their hopes of a top-four finish. This is five points less than Al Jaish SC, who have played a match less.

Earlier today, Al Kharatiyat clinched a crucial 2-1 win over Al Sailiya, coming back from one goal down to seal the three points. The win was crucial for Al Kharatiyat’s survival hopes. They now have 19 points, one less than Al Sailiya’s. Both teams now have a fight on their hands to stay in Qatar Stars League.
