Doha, – Al Thakhira beach hosted Saturday the fourth annual Qatar Open Water Swimming Championship, with 190 swimmers participating.
Aday Alvarez came in first place, finishing the race in 13:06:84 minutes. He was top of the 26-30 years old category. Nasser Yasser Hamdy was top of the men’s 18-25 years category. Enis Kefy won the 41-45 category, while Dmytro Siverskyy won the 51-55 category. HE Hungary’s Ambassador in Qatar Fodor Barnabas participated in the championship and came fifth in the 36-40 years category. He was also 31st in the overall standings.
In the women’s competition, Gebrielle Eseo finished top of the 18-25 years category. Carla Pregigueiro finished in first place in the 26-30 years category. In the 41-45 years category, Joanne Lambert came in first place. Nerissa Usero for her part won 36-40 years category.
President of the Qatar Swimming Association Khalil Al Jaber said that this year’s competition was exceptional and saw strong participation in all age groups. He added that the competition also provides an opportunity to amateur swimmers to test their skills. He noted that competition was strong as all participants were eager to win first place. (QNA)
