RAK Ruler receives US AmbassadorUNIFIL’S TENENTI: INTENTIONALLY TARGETING JOURNALISTS, CIVILIANS IS A VIOLATION OF INTERNATIONAL LAW THAT MAY AMOUNT TO WAR CRIMES

H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, today received Martina Strong, Ambassador of the US to the UAE, who came to greet him on the occasion of assuming her new role.

Meghan Gregonis, US Consul-General in Dubai, accompanied Ambassador Strong.

Sheikh Saud welcomed Strong and Gregonis and wished them success in their duties to strengthen the overall strategic ties between the UAE and the US.

He also lauded the close UAE-US relations and cooperation, which helps achieve further prosperity for their countries and peoples.

The US Ambassador expressed her gratitude to Sheikh Saud for his warm hospitality, praising the deep-rooted strategic relations between the two friendly countries.

In relation to reports of Lebanese journalists killed by Israeli strike on 21 November, UNIFIL Spokesperson Andrea Tenenti told the National News Agancy that ‘UNIFIL is shocked and saddened to learn that a group of journalists was hit near Tayr Harfa, in south Lebanon.,’ adding, ‘We extend our condolences to the families and friends of those killed.’

He added, ‘Intentionally targeting journalists and civilians is a violation of international law that may amount to war crimes.’

‘We continue to urge all parties to respect their safety and avoid striking areas where they may be hurt or killed,’ stressed Tenenti.
