Saif bin Zayed witnesses 4th day of UAE SWAT Challenge

ABU DHABI, Lt. Gen. HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, witnessed the activities of the fourth day of the 4th edition of the UAE SWAT Challenge 2023, the largest event of its kind in the field of special units and tactical teams at the regional level, in the Training Facility in Al Rowaiyah in Dubai.

In the presence of Lt. Gen, Abdullah Khalifa Al Merri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police. Sheikh Saif was briefed on the fourth day’s competitions, which focused on dealing with the assault tower by carrying out the tasks of descending from the top of the tower, shooting multiple targets, and bypassing a number of obstacles.

The Minister and the attendees were briefed on the high capabilities of the personnel participating in the UAE SWAT Challenge competitions, and the professionalism and specialised training which these teams and special units have attained in dealing with crises.

Lt. Gen. Abdullah Khalifa Al Merri thanked H.H. Sheikh Saif for the outstanding and unlimited support for all police HQs across the state as well as their special units which took part in the UAE SWAT Challenge and showed advanced levels in terms of professionalism, competitiveness and preparedness.

Al Merri said: “Sheikh Saif’s follow-up of the SWAT Challenge contributed to its growth year after year since its inception in 2019. This year it grew to include 55 teams from different countries of the world, including from Asia, Europe, South and Latin Americas, Africa and the United States.”

Al Merri added that such a global presence boosted competitiveness during the event in addition to enhancing the goal of the challenge, which is to ensure efficiency of security services in their various specialisations, including the work of special units and the level of their readiness to face challenges and risks.

“The UAE SWAT Challenge enabled the participants over the past days to learn about the various skills, tactics, work systems, and specialised equipment used by various tactical teams to efficiently and effectively carry out their tasks,” he concluded.
