Secretary-General of SCMCHA meets with UNHCR’s new representative to Yemen


The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Administration and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, Ibrahim Al-Hamli, discussed on Sunday with the new representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Yemen, Marin Din, mechanisms of joint action and cooperation between the Supreme Council and the UNHCR.

The meeting, which was attended by the Head of the International Cooperation Department, Faisal Modhesh, touched on aspects of joint cooperation and work mechanisms between the Council and the Commission to ensure continuity of work and achieve the desired results to alleviate the suffering of the displaced and those affected by the aggression and siege.

In the meeting, the Secretary General of the Council affirmed the Supreme Council’s readiness to provide all necessary facilities to facilitate the work of the Commission to perform the tasks entrusted to it.

He stressed the need to adhere to the controls of humanitarian work and respect the natio
nal laws of the country, as this would facilitate the work, ensure its continuity, and achieve the desired humanitarian goals. He stressed the need for full coordination with the Supreme Council, as it is the official body concerned with the work of the organizations.

He pointed out the need to pay attention to the displaced, especially in light of the suspension of aid, which led to their suffering doubling and depriving them of the simplest necessities of life.

For his part, Marin Din stressed the Commission’s commitment to cooperation and coordination with the national authorities represented by the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation and to make all efforts regarding the issues of the displaced and contribute to alleviating their suffering.

The meeting was attended by the Director of Emergency and Displacement, Naji Azman, and the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Muhammad Al-Razza.
