Doha, Al Sadd will be looking to temporally head to the top of the QSL standings with a win over Al Shahania in the first game of the weekend. Head coach Jesaldo Ferriera spoke to the media ahead of the game.
The Portuguese coach opened up his press conference stressing that all sides in the QSL can be a challenge for Al Sadd. "All of the matches are difficult, even if we are playing against a team who are struggling in Al Shahania my players will ready for tomorrow." Ferriera also had an injury update on four key first team players ahead of the match. "Khalfan Ibrahim, Hassan Haydoos and Morteza Pouraliganji have all been training well this week we are preparing them slowly with the next group of games in mind. As for Jugurtha Hamroun he looks like he will be unavailable for the game." Despite missing key players in recent weeks, Ferriera is pleased that younger players have stepped up for Al Sadd. "My philosophy is to work with young players to replace the big names we have missing at the moment this philosophy seems to be doing well for us as Hamza Sanhaji has scored four goals for us in recent weeks." Ferriera ended the press conference stressing that the league is very much the aim of this Al Sadd side."Our goal is to win the league and that will be happen game by game, we have a important game in Champions League and this game will be preparation for that also.
As for Al Shahanaia they are currently in the QSL relegation zone, and will be looking to register a win to pull their way out of trouble. Croatian head coach Igor Stimac spoke to the media ahead of the match.
Stimac opened up the press conference noting that the match will be a major challenge for his side. "We are playing a big team in Qatar in Al Sadd who are fighting for the title and have plenty of quality all over the pitch. We have been trying to find out ways on the training pitch to find out some ways to better them and at the end of the day, we will try to do our best." "Five teams are in the relegation battle, with three others in the danger zone. We cannot expect much from games against the top sides such as Al Sadd, El Jaish and Lekhwiya so we have to focus against the teams in our league and focus on the teams and games around us" noted the Croatian coach at the press conference on Wednesday morning.
The Al Shahania boss also added he will be without two key players for the match. "We have had plenty of difficulties but we have pulled together as a family. I will be without Mehrdad Pooladi and Rahim Zahivi though injury for this game." Stimac ended the press conference insisting that his side have the capabilities to upset the second placed side in the QSL. "We having nothing to loose from a match against Al Sadd for my side.Tomorrow is a big game for my players, I can see that they believe we can get a result and upset Al Sadd."
Al Ahli head into their QSL match of the week encounter against Al Rayyan on a high after registering three straight wins in the league. Head coach Yusef Adam spoke to the local media ahead of their Friday evening match at Ahli stadium.
Adam opened up the press conference expressing his excitement at the match against the reigning QSL champions."It's a game with two form sides, Al Rayyan are only looking for victory in this match. Our target is to be away from the relegation zone. The run of wins has made our situation comfortable right now, but we will be targeting a win to continue this good moment that we are in" "Our target this season is thirty points in order to be away from relegation. We are playing Al Rayyan at home and that will be an advantage for us" added the Qatari coach when asked if he had a points target in mind for the remainder of the 2016/2017 season.
The Brigadiers boss ended the press conference noting that confidence will be key if his side are to come away with the victory. "We have improved in confidence and that has been shown in training and our recent matches. As a coach, this is an ideal position to be in. We now have to focus on all the positives and look to use this to exploit the weaknesses of Al Rayyan in our next match." Whilst for Al Rayyan, they are on a impressive five game winning streak in the league, and will be looking to add another win to further cement their place standings in the league. Head coach Michael Laudrup spoke to the media ahead of the game.
Laudrup opened up his press conference noting that his opponents will be full of confidence heading into the game."Al Ahli is a good team, they have had problems this season but they have won three games in the row and they will be playing with us with plenty of confidence." The Danish coach also admitted that he's not sure that striker, who had been linked with a return to spain will be available for the game on Friday. "I don't know at the moment if Garcia will play against Al Ahli. Espanyol is his home club and this was a special opportunity for him to return. The club have been clear that he will have to stay for this important second half of the season. So Sergio has accepted this and we will now work with him till the end of the season. Sergio will come back into the team when I feel that he is mentally ready to play for Al Rayyan." "Our priority right now is a top four finish. We have to try game by game we have to win we have won seven of our last eight games. Right now Lekhwiya and Al Sadd are favourites for the league. Although in January we have won all five games, that is all we can do" noted the Danish coach when asked about his sides chances of retaining the QSL falcon shield.
League leaders Lekhiwya take on Al Khor on Thursday evening with the aim of maintaining their lead at the top of the QSL standings. Algerian coach Djamel Belmadi spoke to the local media ahead of the game.
Belmadi opened up his press conference noting that his side are looking to improve on their draw with Al Khor during the first half of the season. "The first game against Al Khor we drew 2-2, and now we will be looking to do one better and get the three points against this difficult side." Lekhiwya will see the trio of Yusef Msakni and Yusef El Arabi and Almoez Ali return to the side. Belmadi was eager to point out how this will boost his squad. "It's not difficult welcome them back, they are two great players it's good for the squad that they have returned. We still have players out through suspension still so the return of El Arabi and Msakni is a major boost for my team." Last time Al Khor frustrated Lekhwiya with a 2-2 draw in November, and Belmadi insisted that only three points was his target in the game."I don't like to loose or draw there is nothing special with Al Khor it will be a difficult game. If we have a difficult game my team are ready for that. We have shown that this season we can win all kinds of games now matter how tough, and that is the same objective again on Thursday." Belmadi ended his press conference praising the performances of midfielder Nam Tae Hee who has stepped up in recent weeks. "Nam has showed consistently he is one of the best players in Qatar, it's no surprise to me that he has shown his quality week in week out in the league and helping Lekhwiya this season." As for Al Khor, they are currently in eighth place in the QSL standings and will be looking to get back to winning ways after enjoying a three game undefeated streak prior to their 1-0 defeat to Al Ahli last time out. French coach Jean Fernandez spoke to the media ahead of the game.
Opening up the press conference Fernandez was eager to praise his league leading opponents. "Lekhwiya are the best side in the league, they have won fourteen times in the league and they have let to loose a game this season. They have many good players and that can cause every team problems, and we will have to guard against this threat." "We have prepared the team well this week. We will try and trouble Lekhwiya and hopefully we can cause them problems like we did last time" added the French tactician.
Fernandez ended the press conference noting that Lekhwiya will have to be well prepared to get the three points off Al Khor. "We played well against Lekhwiya in the first half of the season. and it was an equal contest, this will give us confidence for this match. Lekhwiya will be careful of my side now, because they are fighting for the championship and they won't be looking to drop points against Al Khor."
El Jaish take on Al Sailiya on Thursday morning with the soldiers in need of a win to kick-start their slow 2017 which has started without a win so far. Head coach Sabri Lamouchi spoke to the media ahead of the match.
Lamouchi opened the press conference noting that his side need a win to turn around their season."It's not a easy moment for us, we have had a tough 2017 and it's been hard to win games. Tomorrow we will try to make a good performance and try and get the three points against Al Sailiya." El Jaish have strengthened their ranks with two players from Al Sailiya, whilst three players from El Jaish have headed on loan, and Lamouchi stated that his opponents are completely different in this match. "It's important that we have signed two players from Al Sailiya to help us for the remainder of the season. Sailiya are now a different team, the professionals are totally different and the locals are new. They have a new attitude and a new spirit and we are facing a team tomorrow who will be a challenge for us." "In the last ten games we have only won two games. It is impossible to win the league with this such form" lamented the French coach when asked about his sides realistic title hopes.
El Jaish have also been boosted by the news of Seidou Keita signing a six month contract extension with the side."I hope Keita can help the team and the club to take some trophies. Only Xavi in Qatar more won then him in his career. He has plenty of experience for the team and is a big player, at the end I hope he can use his experience to help El Jaish win a trophy at the end of the season." As for Sailiya they have had a busy week on the transfer front, picking up the El Jaish trio of Rami Fayez, Mohammed Jumaa and Wagner Ribero on loan. Ahead of the game, Tunisian coach Sami Trabelsi gave his thoughts to the local media.
Trabelsi opened up the press conference stressing that El Jaish are a dangerous proposition for his side. "It's a difficult game against a good side with quality players. It's not the El Jaish side from the first half of the season they have lost form and moral, but they are still dangerous and they have good players all over the pitch." Al Sailiya have picked up a total of seven players this transfer window, and Trabelsi is hoping they can push his side up the QSL standings. "Right now, we are still in the danger zone. We have signed some good players in the last week, we have eight games in the league and I hope the new players will add to the squad. I feel we have more balance in attack with the new signings and I hope this can make a difference for our season." The Tunisian coach ended his press conference insisting that positive results will determine his sides fate in the league. "Only positive results will help our cause for survival and that will be our main aim now. The league will be decided in the next few weeks, so now it's a matter of points for my side."
