The Minister of Foreign Affairs participates in an Arab ministerial meeting in Cairo to discuss developments in the Sudanese file

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fouad Hussein, participated today in the work of the extraordinary session of the Council of the Arab League at the ministerial level, which was called for by the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, at the headquarters of the Arab League, to discuss the situation in Sudan.

The Council affirmed the necessity of fully respecting Sudan’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, not interfering in its internal affairs, dealing with the current crisis as an internal Sudanese affair, preserving the Sudanese national state institutions and preventing their collapse, and preventing any external interference in Sudanese affairs in order to avoid fueling conflict and threatening regional peace and security.

He also stressed the formation of an Arab ministerial contact group that includes: the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Secretary-General, to undertake:

A- Communicating with the Sudanese parties, influential countries regionally and internationally, and relevant international organizations and groupings with the aim of reaching a settlement to the crisis.

B- Efforts to reach a complete and sustainable ceasefire.

C – Work to address the causes of the crisis, which will meet the aspirations of the Sudanese people and their aspirations for stability and security.

D- Coordinating with the General Secretariat and international and UN relief organizations and bodies to provide urgent humanitarian and medical support for citizens and displaced persons inside Sudan, through the relevant authorities, as well as for those looking for a safe haven in neighboring countries that receive refugees to help them bear the increasing burdens, as well as urging Arab and international donor countries to provide Humanitarian aid to the brotherly Sudanese people.
