The President of the Republic, Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, affirmed that Iraq has returned to playing its role in the region, where we receive support from everyone.
The President said, in an interview with Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper published yesterday, that the change from a dictatorial and totalitarian regime to democracy and freedom is not an easy process within any society, and we suffered before 2003 from the effects of dictatorship and the totalitarian regime, which led to the disintegration of society and the severance of relations with the outside world.
He added that war does not solve problems, but rather complicates them and creates new ones, noting in this regard that the priority during the past years was to eliminate terrorism.
He explained that terrorism and extremism are not only a state problem, but rather a problem of the region and the world.
The President of the Republic stated that our steps now, after eliminating terrorism, are directed towards implementing a program that includes serving citizens in terms of rehabilitating infrastructure and providing services, expanding freedoms, fighting poverty, raising the standard of living and the ceiling of social security, and eliminating unemployment by activating the private sector.
