Turkish Ambassador’s wife lauds Sheikha Fatima’s efforts to empower Emirati women

ABU DHABI, Burcu K. Erdogdu Tunçer, Wife of the Turkish Ambassador to the UAE, lauded the efforts of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), Honorary Chairperson of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), to empower Emirati women.

During her visit to the GWU, Tunçer met with Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General of the GWU, and Al Reem Al Falasi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and lauded the GWU’s efforts to support women in all areas of life.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the cooperation and coordination between the UAE and Turkey in women’s empowerment.

Tunçer was also briefed about the establishment of the GWU and the National Strategy for the Empowerment of Women through a documentary, as well as the GWU’s efforts to promote the agendas of women, peace and security globally through the Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Women, Peace and Security Initiative.

The meeting addressed the UAE’s achievements in women’s empowerment, led by the country’s leadership and upon the directives of Sheikha Fatima.

Al Falasi explained the work of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, underscoring the country’s commitment to women and children.

Tunçer extended her thanks for the warm welcome and hospitality she received, expressing her admiration for the UAE’s distinguished achievements in women’s empowerment, noting that it is an example to be followed, due to the unlimited support of Sheikha Fatima.

She also highlighted her appreciation for the distinguished ties between the two friendly countries and their ongoing keenness to advance their overall cooperation, most notably in women’s empowerment.
