Ankara, – At least 56 militants were killed in northern Syria by Turkish forces and the U.S.-led coalition, the Turkish army said Thursday in a statement carried by Anadolu Agency.

Operation Euphrates Shield continued in order to clear Al-Bab of ISIS elements, with opposition forces taking control of two more neighborhoods, according to the statement.

Turkish land forces hit 90 ISIS targets, while fighter jets destroyed 14 targets as part of the operation.

Out of the 56 militants, 11 were killed in airstrikes carried out by the U.S.-led coalition. The raids also destroyed one vehicle belonging to the group.

Turkey-led Operation Euphrates Shield began in late August through Free Syrian Army fighters backed by Turkish artillery and jets to improve security, support coalition forces, and eliminate the terror threat along the Turkish border. (QNA)
