UAE delegation attends third day of meetings on sidelines of 77th Session of UNGA

NEW YORK, The UAE delegation held its third day of high-level bilateral and multilateral meetings on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

 

Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, met with Aminath Shauna, Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Technology of the Maldives; Dr. Jeanne d’Arc Mujawamariya, Minister of Environment of the Republic of Rwanda; David Malpass, President of the World Bank Group; Alok Sharma MP, President of COP26; Børge Brende, President of the World Economic Forum; Frans Timmermans, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission; and Ani Dasgupta, President and CEO of the World Resources Institute.

 

Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State, participated in the 12th Ministerial Plenary Meeting of the Global Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF). In addition, Al Marar participated in an International Peace Institute ministerial dinner focused on recent developments in Europe and changing dynamics in the Middle East and North Africa. The dinner was hosted by the State of Qatar and the Wilson Centre.

 

For his part, Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of State, met with Sheikh Mohamud, President of the Federal Republic of Somalia. He also held productive discussions with Évariste Ndayishimiye, President of Burundi, and Moeketsi Majoro, Prime Minister of Lesotho.

 

Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan also met with several other ministers, including Frederick Makamure Shava, Foreign Minister of Zimbabwe, and Simeón Oyono Esono, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.

 

Sheikh Shakhboot later met with Ambassador Christian Buck, Director-General for Political Affairs (Africa, Latin America, Near and the Middle East) in Germany’s Federal Foreign Office.

 

Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State, met with Jeremiah Manele, Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade of the Solomon Islands.

 

For his part, Omar Saif Ghobash, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Cultural and Public Diplomacy, attended a reception hosted by the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie, an institution dedicated to promoting the French language and political, educational, economic, and cultural cooperation.

 

For his part, Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for International Development Affairs, participated in a high-level United Nations event on responding to urgent humanitarian needs in the Horn of Africa, including Somalia, Ethiopia, and Kenya. In addition, he attended a high-level event on preventing an FSO Safer oil spill in the Red Sea. Al Shamsi also attended a meeting on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by investing in rural communities.

 

Yacoub Al Hosani, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for International Organisations Affairs, participated in a ministerial conference on the Non-Aligned Movement, which is committed to reinforcing multilateral action in the face of global challenges.
