WGS: Global Universities Challenge Award celebrates brightest minds

ABU DHABI: The ‘Shaping Future Governments: Global Universities Challenge’ Award, presented by the World Governments Summit (WGS), is a shining beacon in the journey of empowering youth and celebrating the brightest minds in shaping the future of governments worldwide.

The Global Universities Challenge Award embodies the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, to empower young people in various fields to lead the world into the future.

It works to consolidate a culture of innovation by opening up horizons for university students worldwide to participate with their ideas in providing innovative government services. It also reinforces cooperation between team members to face challenges and find innovative solutions as future leaders.

This Challenge is by invitation only and exclusive to select graduate students of public policy, government relations, political science, and business administration. Therefore, the Challenge targets over
100 students from top graduate universities and schools from each continent.

Each university in this Challenge is represented by five of its brightest students to compete within 15 teams. Each team develops an innovative vision for the best plan to achieve an advanced government approach. Each team will choose one student to present their project to the panel of judges within five minutes only.

The jury for the award consists of a group of high-level government officials and executives of major prestigious companies.

The jury evaluates the participation of each university according to four criteria: 40% for novelty and innovation, 25% for impact and comprehensiveness, 20% for viability and feasibility, and 15% for presentation.

The winning team of the Award is honoured at a special ceremony held during the WGS.

The Global Universities Challenge aims to encourage youth to innovate to build a sustainable future. In addition, it stimulates the spirit of competition and challenge among students to develop
systems that serve the strategic goals of countries and humanity at large.
