2nd Al Dhaid Date Festival to kick off November 4

SHARJAH, The city of Al Dhaid in the Emirate of Sharjah is preparing to witness the launch of the second edition of Al Dhaid Dates Festival, organised by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) at the Al Dhaid Expo on 4-6 November, with the wide participation of producers, retailers, distributors and farmers.

The festival sets up a platform for local sellers to market their dates and date products as well as exchanging experiences on modern farming techniques and how to provide palm trees with the necessary care.

A wide range of different types of luxury, commercial and normal dates will be available at the event, which will witness an auction on all types of dates, in addition to selling date products at the festival market.

Mohammed Musabbih Al Tunaiji, General Coordinator of the festival, confirmed that preparations for the launch of the event’s second edition are being carried out to the fullest with the aim of making it exceptional and goal-achieving.

He also noted that the event is a Sharjah Chamber’s initiative aimed at supporting palm farmers and the manufacturers and marketers of dates and their products, in addition to providing farmers with a platform to exchange technical expertise as regards growing best and finest dates, opening new markets and increasing their investment returns.

Al Tunaiji highlighted the specificity in Emirati heritage of palm trees, to which the UAE wise leadership has paid great attention, aims at improving palm cultivation and enhancing its economic competitiveness being part of the national income.

He then invited Emirati families to visit the festival, take part in the various activities therein, and learn more about all types of Emirati dates, their health and nutritional benefits, their production techniques, and the many types of food in which dates go in as ingredients.

The festival enables productive families working in date production to take part in its activities as it seeks to empower them by selling their products to visitors.

The venue also allocates spaces for dates packing factories. Additionally, the festival includes a programme full of heritage activities, competitions and other exciting activities for families to learn more about dates, their recipes and the associated food industries.
