Riyadh: The inspection campaigns carried out by the Ministry of Interior throughout the Kingdom between May 2 and 8, 2024, to ensure compliance with residency, work and border security regulations, yielded the following results:

Across the Kingdom, 19,710 violations were recorded: 12,961 of residency, 4,177 of border security, and 2,572 of labor laws.

Some 979 individuals attempted to cross the border into the Kingdom illegally, of whom 43% Yemenis, 54% Ethiopians, and 3% of other nationalities; 46 people were arrested for attempting to illegally leave the Kingdom.

Twelve people involved in transporting, sheltering or employing violators were arrested.

A total of 49,407 expatriates (46,342 men and 3,065 women) are currently undergoing procedures for enforcing regulations.

Among the detained people for violating legal requirements, 40,391 were instructed to contact their country’s embassy or consulate to obtain proper documentation for travel, 3,016 were told to complete booking arrangements for their dep
artures, and 13,383 were repatriated.

The Ministry of Interior has warned that any person who facilitates the illegal entry of individuals into the Kingdom, transports them on its territory, provides them with shelter or with any other assistance or service may be penalized with up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to SAR1 million, and that the vehicles used for transport or housing used for shelter may be impounded.

The ministry stressed that such acts are major crimes that warrant arrest.

It also urges people to report any violations by calling 911 in the Makkah, Riyadh, and Eastern regions, and 999 and 996 in the rest of the Kingdom.

Doha: HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, attended Qatar Foundation’s Annual Alumni Forum – as a new award celebrating graduates of the organization’s unique education ecosystem who drive positive change in their communities was announced.

Hundreds of alumni of Qatar Foundation’s (QF) schools, international partner universities, and Hamad Bin Khalifa University came together at the Forum to reconnect, build networks of knowledge and support, share their stories and journeys, and air their views on topics related to their careers with key national stakeholders.

Attended by HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al-Thani, Vice Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation, ministers, dignitaries, and leaders of industry and business, the 2024 edition of the Forum – which is part of the QF Alumni Program – was held around the theme of social responsibility and moral commitment, reflecting how civic duty and Islamic values are intertwined.

It also saw the launch of the QF Alumni Award, which will reco
gnize the contributions and achievements of QF graduates. The criteria for the award will be linked to each year’s Annual Alumni Forum theme, and in 2024-25 it will honor and celebrate alumni who have contributed to society through their dedication to social responsibility and civic engagement across four categories.

Her Highness Sheikha Moza said: “I am pleased to have attended the 2024 Qatar Foundation Annual Alumni Forum and was delighted to meet our graduates. , Fatema Al Malki, an alumna of QF school Qatar Academy Doha (QAD) and QF partner university Georgetown University in Qatar, and program manager for nationwide reading program Qatar Reads, said: “The key to academic and professional excellence lies in investing in areas that you are skilled in and that bring tangible social impact.” She was joined by Haitham Al-Haidari – a serial entrepreneur and alumnus of QF partner university Texas A andM University at Qatar – and QAD alumnus Fahad Al Kaabi, an entrepreneur fostering inclusivity and empowerment through sports initiatives, who said: “Entering entrepreneurship should come with a strong desire to serve society – the goal should not be profit at the expense of social responsibility.” Three workshops took place during the Forum, with one seeing QF alumni guide their peers on how to advocate for social change through making persuasive arguments.

A session led by QF partner university Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar explored the role of emotional intelligence in so
cial advocacy, while the Education Above All (EAA) Foundation hosted a workshop focusing on leadership and civic engagement during – and beyond – times of crisis. Through its participation in the Forum, EAA also managed the collection of donations for recipients of its scholarships in areas of conflict in the Middle East and North Africa region. And QF alumni whose innovative projects, social initiative, and leadership qualities have contributed to positive social change showcased their work, and inspired others, in the Forum’s Impact Zone. “In these very unique times, think about the fact that we can make a big difference – making sure that we keep alive the vision of Qatar Foundation not only being a place that unlocks human potential, but being a place that really makes a transformation in our communities,” Francisco Marmolejo, President of Higher Education and Education Advisor, Qatar Foundation, told the Forum. “One of the best legacies we can create is to nurture not only the best professionals in their
fields, but also the most committed citizens of our community.” Over 18,000 students have graduated from QF’s schools and universities, with their educational experience nurturing their sense of moral commitment and social responsibility and equipping them to be drivers of positive change, and the QF Alumni Program is open to all of them to join. With the aim of cultivating a global network of alumni connected by their shared journey at QF, it is intended to provide them with the opportunity to help fellow alumni achieve their goals and retain their links to each other and Qatar, including encouraging new alumni to remain in Qatar and support the nation’s development after they graduate. Doha: HE Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater participated in the “Women for Palestine” conference, which was held in Doha today, under the theme ‘Safety is my right’.

In a speech before the conference, Her Excellency affirmed that safety is a legitimate right for every human being, a right that religions have established and guaranteed by laws and regulations, adding that the message of the conference to the women and children of Palestine is that, with their patience, they have become an icon of steadfastness and strength in the entire world. Their patience and steadfastness led to a global awakening that extended from east to west, an awakening that goes beyond the boundaries of the Palestine question to a real accountability and a radical review of the prevailing Western civilizational model with all its concepts about freedom, equality, women’s liberation and progress, she said. “Therefore, women, men and children of Palestine,
we say that all of us and humanity owe you a lot.” Her Excellency said that there is much talk about the Palestinian woman, the Arab woman and the Muslim woman, but most of it is a talk in the name of women… a talk about women… and a talk commenting on the topic of women. So everyone tries to be women’s messenger and voice, but no one has appointed them as guardians of their issues and saviors of them from the darkness.

Addressing the participants of the conference, HE the Minister of State for International Cooperation highlighted the importance of such efforts, meetings and activities in which Arab and Muslim women speak for themselves, starting from a solid civilizational foundation that establishes an authentic intellectual approach. Finding such authentic, active and advocating voice that defends the nations issues in every field requires encouragement, knowledge acquisition, and daring to seek the right, Her Excellency said.

Her Excellency noted that Palestinian women inherited their courage, fait
h, strength and patience from the ancient history of their nation. They are female leaders and role models who were famous for their loyalty, strength of character, and solidity of stance, and who contributed, along with their brothers, to spreading the message and building the Arab and Islamic civilization.

The Nakba of 1948 and subsequent massacres and ethnic cleansing of the people of Palestine entrenched in the mind and conscience of Palestinian women all the meanings of steadfastness and resistance.

In the current aggression against Gaza, women’s steadfastness and patience are embodied in its greatest manifestations. This doctor, Amira Al Assouli – one of thousands of brave Palestinian women – defies death and the bullets of the Israeli occupation to save an injured young man in front of the gate of the Nasser Medical Complex.

HE the Minister of State for International Cooperation renewed the State of Qatar’s firm commitment to supporting the brotherly Palestinian people until they achieve all their l
egitimate rights, especially the right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, noting that Qatar is continuing its diplomatic and mediation efforts in order to stop the aggression and its disastrous effects.

HE Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater said that one of the key tasks of the conference was to find ways and mechanisms at the humanitarian, legal, academic and media levels to stop genocide and protect civilians in Gaza, stressing that this issue requires urgent and multidisciplinary action to stop the serious human rights violations to which the people of Gaza are exposed, and to adopt plans to intensify media campaigns so that international public opinion can play its role in pressuring to stop the aggression, expressing confidence that the conference will come out with recommendations and other creative solutions to support the people of Palestine and the w
omen of Palestine.

Doha: The State of Qatar expressed its full solidarity with Afghanistan in face of the destruction caused by massive floods hitting the Baghlan province north of the country, which resulted in deaths and injuries.

In a statement on Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the State of Qatar’s firm support to Afghanistan and its brotherly people, and voiced its complete readiness to cooperate with the relevant authorities in Afghanistan to provide all means to help overcome crises.

The ministry expressed the State of Qatar’s condolences to the families of the victims, wishing the wounded a speedy recovery.

The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) launched the 2nd phase of the food basket project, which delivers aid to the affected people in the Gaza Strip from Jordan by land.

The project is a collaboration between the QRCS and the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO), in coordination with the Jordan National Red Crescent Society (JNRCS).

HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Sheikh Saud bin Nasser bin Jassim Al-Thani participated in the inauguration of this phase, during which 24 trucks will transport about 12,000 food parcels from Jordan to the QRCS’s office in Gaza, which will then receive and distribute the food parcels to the affected families in displacement camps in several locations in the Strip.

Each parcel consists of food items sufficient for a family for one month, weighing approximately 30 kilograms each, including essential items such as rice, lentils, flour, oil, canned goods, among others.

HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jo
rdan Sheikh Saud bin Nasser bin Jassim Al-Thani highlighted the significance of this project and the role of the entities involved, thanking Qatari humanitarian organizations operating in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for their continuous relief projects to reach out to those affected. Moreover, His Excellency expressed gratitude to partners JHCO and JNRCS, and all those who facilitated the work of Qatari humanitarian organizations in serving the mutual interest of both sisterly countries and enhancing security and stability in the region and the world.

Director of Relief and International Development Division at QRCS Mohamed Salah Ibrahim commended QRCS’s strong relationship with JHCO and JNRCS, facilitating the implementation of this project to help the affected people in Gaza.

Ibrahim noted that this project is only one of many projects being implemented since the start of the war on the Gaza Strip, delivering thousands of tons of food, medicine, water, and essential supplies in order to alleviate the
suffering of the people in the Strip.

In turn, Secretary-General of JHCO Hussein Shibli stated that relations with QRCS have developed over the years, which resulted in the launch of many joint food and relief projects, including this current cooperation, which comes in the context of constantly enhancing partnerships and cooperation with various humanitarian entities to achieve the ultimate goal of delivering aid and standing by the people in Gaza.

QRCS and JHCO had launched the 1st phase of this project on the second day of Eid Al Fitr, during which they distributed 3,296 food parcels to beneficiaries in Rafah and Deir Al Balah via QRCS’s Gaza office and its partners.

The total volume of parcels to be distributed is 23,500 the equivalent of 700 tons of food.

Doha: The Ministry of Justice is taking part in the 33rd session of the Doha International Book Fair (DIBF), which is being held from May 9 to 18 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, under the theme “Knowledge Builds Civilizations.” Through its pavilion at the DIBF, a range of legal publications and means of legal awareness for various categories of the public, including children, are displayed along with legal awareness booklets for young people, the Ministry stated in a statement today.

It explained that its DIBF’s pavilion presents issues of the official gazette, the legal and judicial journal, a series of publications on legal guidelines and the latest legal legislation.

The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers is participating within the Ministry’s pavilion with its latest publications related to the book of internal achievements of the State, the Ministry of Justice added in the statement.

e development of the Ministry, which includes a tribute to Their Excellencies the former ministers and highlights their services and efforts provided to the country by developing the performance of the Ministry of Justice and organizing its administrative structure in a way that achieves the aspirations of the wise leadership towards developing and modernizing the legal sector in the country and consolidating timely justice.

HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi thanked those organizing the DIBF and praised the development and organization of the exhibition that reflects the cultural leadership role of the State of Qatar.

His Excellency appreciated the large participation of libraries and publishing houses in the DIBF and the cultural incubator that the fair provides for Qatari writers and intellectuals to display their latest publications, introduce the public in the State of Qatar and beyond to the Qatari cultural production, and exchange experiences
with the qualitative attendance of the DIBF from various participating countries, noting that the Ministry of Justice pavilion welcomes visitors to the DIBF to learn about the Qatari legal experience through the publications displayed in the pavilion as well as to support legal awareness efforts through the presentations and explanations that will be provided by those in charge of the Ministry’s pavilion.

Doha: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education concluded the activities of the Scientific Training Camp (STEMFD), which was organized, in cooperation with the management of Qatar Technical Secondary School for Girls, and continued for 12 days.

The Science Training Camp aimed at providing a distinctive educational experience in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through the implementation of a set of academic projects that enhance the skills of the twenty-first century, achieve Qatar Vision 2030, and contribute to providing comprehensive experiences to enable students to search for solutions to real-life problems, thus contributing to achieving the sustainable development goals.

Executive Director of the project Lamia Al Hayki pointed out that 44 students from 12 preparatory and secondary schools, of which 5 for boys and 7 for girls, participated in the camp. They were selected according to the geographical scope of the camp’s headquarters.

Assistant Undersecretary for Ed
ucational Affairs Maha Zayed Al Ruwaili and Director of the Curriculum and Learning Resources Department (National Project Leader) at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Sarah Al Shraim paid a visit to the camp, during which they praised students’ projects to find appropriate solutions to the challenges facing farmers in the State of Qatar using various tools and means that encompass the six areas of the camp, namely science, technology, engineering, mathematics and financial and digital knowledge (STEMFD).

The activities of the camp included the implementation of practical experiments on how to invest solar energy to generate electrical energy, followed by a field trip to one of the farms “Eden Farm,” to implement the practical application of what was studied theoretically in addition to identifying the challenges of agriculture in the State of Qatar and ways to overcome them at present, and the implementation of practical experiments to study soil characteristics, as well as training students on
sustainable development goals and employing artificial intelligence tools to search for future solutions to the agricultural problems of in Qatar.

The camp also included training students in green business planning and management skills, teaching them the steps to establish leading companies, training them on water properties, and specifying arable water. A scientist from Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) held a lecture on water resources in Qatar.

The State of Qatar took part in the Global Roundtable on ICT Security Capacity Building, held at the UN Headquarters in New York.

HE President of National Cyber security Agency Eng. Abdulrahman bin Ali Al Farahid Al Maliki headed Qatar’s delegation to the function.

Addressing the main panel discussion on building cyber resilience for sustainable development by bridging the global capacity building gap, His Excellency affirmed the State of Qatar’s readiness to share its experiences and expertise in building capabilities at the national level.

The roundtable was attended by senior officials of the United Nations member states concerned with the field of communications and information technology security, as well as a number of country representatives to the United Nations. The meeting discussed unifying efforts and visions on building international capabilities in the field of information security and cybersecurity.

HE Eng. Abdulrahman bin Ali Al Farahid Al Maliki also participated as a keynote speaker in t
he first sub-session on strengthening governance policies and processes, during which he presented the experiences of the State of Qatar in preparing national strategies.

On the sidelines of his participation, His Excellency President of NCSA met with HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya bint Ahmed Al-Thani.

His Excellency also held bilateral meetings with a number of heads of cybersecurity agencies and centers in both the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Republic of Singapore, eyeing to enhance bilateral cooperation in relevant fields.

Doha: The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and the Supreme Judiciary Council (SJC), represented by the Investment and Trade Court, commenced the electronic connection procedures to streamline the process of sharing services and information between MoJ and the Court, in addition to providing shared benefits of this electronic connection, in pursuit of ensuring smooth progress of transactions, time efficiency and reducing hard slog in serving the public.

While chairing the 2nd meeting to discuss the connection procedures with the team of the Investment and Trade Court, Assistant Under-Secretary for Common Services Affairs at the MoJ, Khamis Mohamed Al Kuwari, affirmed, that the procedures serve the general orientation of the State of Qatar towards the E-justice system and help facilitate the litigation procedures, prompt justice, and reduce the strenuous activities of litigants.

He added that, as per directives of HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi, a techn
ical work team has been formed to accomplish the electronic connection requirements and set the legal frameworks evidence to comprehensively share services, in which the functions of each entity are determined, in addition to establishing focal points in the MoJ and the Court , culminating in fully optimizing the service quality level afforded to all visitors.

The connection system offers a multitude of benefits, foremost of which is time efficiency, since transactions between the two bodies have been consuming much time. Also, the system streamlines the accomplishment of transactions for the Courts visitors, namely investors and traders, something that would evidently foster transparency and draw investments to the country through creating an environment conducive to facilitate litigation procedures and settle disputes more expeditiously.

Additionally, the connection system offers quick inquiries about the real estate property relevant to the Court’s case system, ensures accuracy and confidentiality in exe
cuting the procedures rendered by the Judicial rulings, vetting personal and real estate data through combining the systems of relevant government agencies.

Doha: Qatar University on Saturday celebrated the graduation of the 47 batch of female students from the College of Arts and Sciences in the presence of HE Minister of State and President of the Qatar National Library Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari.

The university said in a statement today that the graduating batch comprised 1,072 graduates from various college specializations.

Addressing the graduation ceremony, HE Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari said that the graduation is the beginning of a new journey in life, since the university is not only a place for education, but rather it is a very important stage in a person’s development.

He added that Qatar University was able to achieve a prominent position in the field of education, and continues to advance in the universities ranking.

HE Dr. Al Kuwari urged the female graduates to commit to being loyal to the university’s faculty members, and to the memories they gathered at the university during their studies.

uate Laleh Asha Ismail Ahmed said that the female students received various types of sciences and knowledge. She also voiced the female students’ appreciation for all the efforts made by the university to reach this important stage.

Doha: Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q), a Qatar Foundation partner, honored the academic success of 119 undergraduate students from 38 countries including Qatar and 21 graduate students from Qatar at a commencement ceremony on May 9, 2024.

The ceremony was held at the Qatar National Convention Centre, where family, friends, university faculty and staff, and dignitaries from Qatar and Georgetown University in Washington, DC, came together to celebrate the proud milestone.

In his remarks to the graduating class, the dean of GU-Q, Dr. Safwan Masri commended their achievements, saying, “I hope you are as proud of yourselves as we are of you. Thank you for enriching our lives, for expanding our minds, and for opening our hearts we are immensely grateful and honored to see Georgetowns legacy of providing education that positively impacts the world, in each of you.” The ceremony featured the traditional conferral of degrees by Georgetown University President Dr. John J. DeGioia.

n Service (SFS), Joel Hellman presented the candidates from the four-year Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service program, with majors in Culture and Politics, International Economics, International History, and International Politics.

GU-Q Dean Safwan Masri presented the Executive Master’s in Diplomacy and International Affairs candidates, praising their negotiation and problem-solving skills as vital for leadership roles in Qatar and beyond.

Preceding the commencement, the Tropaia awards ceremony, a revered Georgetown tradition, recognized the exceptional academic and service achievements of seniors, faculty, and staff.
