A joint security force began a sweeping operation in the Sherwin orchards northeast of Baqubah, the center of Diyala Governorate.
A security source told the correspondent of the National Iraqi News Agency /NINA/: ‘A joint security force began a sweeping operation in the orchards of the Sherwin district, northeast of Baquba, searching for places where ISIS sleeper cells are located.’
He added: “The operation comes within the framework of inspecting farms near the banks of the Diyala River in light of the presence of terrorist activity by ISIS cells monitored from time to time .”
Yesterday, a security source announced that the body of a traffic policeman was found dumped near the banks of the Diyala River in the Sherwin district, northeast of Baquba.
