Abdullah bin Bayyah calls on UK’s imams to ensure positive engagement of Muslims in community

LONDON, Shaikh Abdullah bin Bayyah, Chairman of the UAE Fatwa Council and Head of the Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace, called on religious leaders and imams in the United Kingdom (UK) to promote the values of mercy in their societies.

In his virtual speech at an event organised by the forum in the UK, Shaikh bin Bayyah said that mercy is a comprehensive term that consists of making people feel comfortable and safe, and involves promoting the values of solidarity and compassion between peoples.

He also highlighted the importance for imams in the UK to help maintain a balance between engagement and maintaining privacy, commending their efforts to ensure the positive engagement of British Muslims.

“Muslims should adopt their religion’s values and ethics in their daily lives, being the ideal solutions for all the problems they are facing,” he said.

The event’s participants highlighted the importance of its hosting, noting that the UK’s Muslim community must promote peace and tolerance.
