Abu Dhabi Judicial Department introduces Sorbonne University Students to UAE’s legal system

ABU DHABI, The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) hosted an introductory lecture for students of Sorbonne University – Abu Dhabi School of Law, on the legal system of the United Arab Emirates and the newly introduced procedures and laws and their role in developing the judicial and legal system, in line with the governmental drive to consolidate the competitive position of the country at the global level.

This introductory lecture was given as part of the Judicial Department’s efforts to contribute to improving the performance of educational institutions by enriching students’ theoretical knowledge and connecting it to what is being done in practice, in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Presidential Court and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, to strengthen the community’s involvement with the various institutions to ensure quality and excellence at all levels

During the lecture, the students were able to learn about the judicial systems, the different courts and jurisdictions of the United Arab Emirates, as well as the similarities and differences between local laws and the laws of other countries. They were also introduced to the digital services provided in Abu Dhabi Courts, remote litigation systems and the Interactive Case Registration service and its role in facilitating access to justice through smart and innovative means.

The lecturers also shed light on the Civil Marriage Law and its Effects in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, which is the only in the Arab region to apply a civil law for non-Muslim foreigners in matters of personal status, an exception that testifies to the far-sightedness of the country’s wise leadership and its concern to develop an integrated and advanced service system that strives for excellence and global leadership.
