Acquisition Contracts with Baykar Company Enhance Kingdom’s Defence, Manufacturing, GADD Governor Says

The Governor of the General Authority for Defense Development (GADD) Dr. Faleh bin Abdullah Al-Sulaiman stressed that the executive plan for defence cooperation and the two contracts of acquisition – witnessed by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and signed by the Ministry of Defense with the Turkish Ministry of National Defense and the Baykar Company for defence industries – reflect the Kingdom’s plans, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH the Crown Prince, in starting constructive cooperation in the defense field to serve the interests of both countries and contribute to achieving the Kingdom’s goals.

Al-Sulaiman underscored that the two acquisition contracts are part of a path for upgrading the defence capabilities of the Kingdom, led by Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Minister of Defense and Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the GADD.

He said the contracts are envisioned to boost the Kingdom’s defence and manufacturing capabilities, in addition to localizing the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) industry through the transfer of technology and knowledge and training Saudi personnel in manufacturing products in the military and defence industries.

Al-Sulaiman noted that signing the contracts is a continuation of the constructive cooperation and strategic partnership between the Kingdom and Turkiye in the defence field and will contribute to developing and localizing many modern systems that meet the Kingdom’s needs.

The governor reiterated that the GADD, with the support and guidance of the wise leadership and coordination with relevant authorities, seeks to develop the strategies and operational plans necessary to assume its role in achieving the objectives set out in the Saudi Vision 2030 in the defence sector with Saudi personnel through systematically benefiting from national capabilities and an accelerating pace.
