Al-Mandalawi directs to expedite the legislation of the Narcotic Drugs and Neurotropic Substances Law due to the urgent need to implement its provisions


Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, directed, today, Monday, to expedite the legislation of the Narcotic Drugs and Neurotropic Substances Law due to the urgent need to implement its provisions.



A statement by his media office stated that Al-Mandalawi chaired a meeting of the Parliamentary Legal Committee in the presence of its head, Ribwar Hadi, and its members, to discuss the most important draft laws and proposals under legislation.



According to the statement, the First Deputy directed the acceleration of the legislation of the Narcotic Drugs and Neurotropic Substances Law due to the urgent need to implement its provisions in a way that contributes to addressing the negative effects of the drug scourge and limiting its growth, with a focus on determining the authority of each party according to the nature of its work, in addition to completing the addition of the necessary proposals regarding the Anti-Terrorism Law. It was also placed on the session’s agenda, stressing the need to review previous legislation and adapt it in accordance with the constitution.”



Al-Mandalawi described the Legal Committee as the backbone of the work of the House of Representatives, which is concerned with the legal drafting of all draft laws referred to the parliamentary committees, stressing that the committee bears great responsibilities related to supporting the work of other committees in drafting legislative texts.
