Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani expressed the solidarity of the Iraqi people with the brotherly Libyan people in the face of the humanitarian catastrophe represented by floods and hurricanes.
Al-Sudani said in a statement: “On behalf of the government and people of Iraq, we express our feelings of fraternal solidarity with the brotherly Libyan people, in the face of the difficult humanitarian catastrophe represented by torrents and hurricanes that swept through eastern Libya, especially the stricken city of Derna and the thousands of victims it left behind.”
He added: “We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims, wishing them forgiveness and mercy and the hearts of their families patience and consideration, just as we wish the injured a speedy recovery.”
Al-Sudani expressed the full readiness of the Iraqi government to extend a helping hand in relief efforts and rescue those afflicted, and to provide immediate assistance in everything that would reduce the scale of the disaster, out of humanitarian duty and brotherhood between the brotherly Iraqi and Libyan peoples./End
