The Cabinet approved in a session on Wednesday an exemption for public transport companies from licensing fees, and fines related to the non-renewal of licenses during the imposed COVID-19 restrictions in 2021.
The decision was made in light of COVID impact on public transport companies registered with the Land Transport Regulatory Commission. These companies had not been included in the government’s previous decisions, which included supporting the affected sectors, helping them overcome the losses they incurred, and enabling them to sustain their work and keep their jobs.
Under the decision, all types of public transport affected by the pandemic will be exempted from annual licensing fees, and other annual investment-related fees for the year 2021, at rates ranging between 30 to 100 percent.
The decision exempts school transport companies, international transport companies, transportation companies for public universities, and hotel-affiliated taxi companies by 100 percent, and bus rental, service and public transport companies are exempted by 50 percent, while tourist car rental companies are exempted by 30 percent. The decision also offered an extension of the period for paying financial dues until December 31, 2021, in addition to allowing installment payments until the end of 2022.
