China, UAE discuss military cooperation

Chinese Minister of National Defense Li Shangfu said his country is willing to work with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to further deepen military cooperation, according to China’s Defense Ministry.

Li made remarks during his meeting with Commander of the UAE Air Force and Air Defense Major General Ibrahim Al-Alawi in Beijing, the ministry said in a statement.

Li said that with the care and support of Chinese President Xi Jinping and UAE President Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, the development of military relations between the two countries has entered the fast lane and the exchanges and cooperation in various fields have also achieved gratifying results.

“The two air forces have carried out fruitful cooperation in recent years, adding new dimensions to the mil-to-mil relations. China is ready to work with the UAE to further deepen their military cooperation,” the minister noted.

For his part, Al-Alawi said the UAE and China possess solid political mutual trust and brotherly friendship, and the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries has reached an unprecedented high level. He stressed that the UAE is willing to continue deepening strategic mutual trust with China, strengthen cooperation in various fields, and further consolidate and promote the development of relations between the two air forces.
