Conditions of fishermen in Hodeida inspected

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Fisheries for the traditional fishing sector Abdulhamid Salah on Sunday inspected the fish clearance landing center in al-Nakhila city in Hodeida province.

During the visit, the Undersecretary was briefed on the status of the center and its workflow and he listened to an explanation from the workers about their daily activity for fish marketing.

He also heard from those in charge of the center a clarification about the situation of fishermen, their problems and concerns during the landing process, and the nature of the needs and necessary interventions to improve the performance of the center in a way that contributes to serving the fish sector and fishermen in general.

Undersecretary Salah and head of the Fund for Financing Small and Micro Enterprises Ebrahim Shaiban discussed in a meeting with fishermen the mechanisms for implementing soft loans for fishermen from the sons of al-Nakhila within the second phase, with the support of the Fund.

The meeting dealt with a mechanism for facilitating the tasks of fishermen, procedures for their registration, and granting them the necessary loans to enable them to produce and develop their small projects.

Undersecretary Salah stressed the need for fishermen to benefit from the available training, guidance and rehabilitation programmes, urging the importance of joining cooperative societies for this purpose and giving them loans and the necessary support according to capabilities and in a manner that achieves self-sufficiency for them.
