Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation lauds efforts of humanitarian, relief workers

ABU DHABI, On the occasion of the annual World Humanitarian Day on 19th August, the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation lauded the efforts of humanitarian and relief workers.

Mohammed Haji Al Khouri, Director-General of the Foundation, quoted President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as stating, “The UAE’s humanitarian giving is a message of love to the world, and the country is providing unlimited giving without expecting anything in return.”

Al Khouri affirmed that the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed, has addressed several global humanitarian challenges by adopting a series of relief and developmental initiatives that have improved the lives and eased the suffering of victims and people affected by disasters, conflicts and wars.

Statistics from United Nations (UN) agencies and partners point out that in 2022, nearly 274 million people in 63 countries will require protection and humanitarian aid. These figures also highlight the need to promote cooperation in providing international humanitarian assistance.

The UAE plays a major role in rescuing people affected by wars, crises and severe humanitarian conditions without discrimination based on religion, colour and gender, and has consolidated its international humanitarian stature, due to the humanitarian and relief projects it has launched around the world, Al Khouri stated.
