KSrelief’s Masam Project Clears 772 Mines in a Week in Yemen

The Masam project’s team from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) successfully dismantled a total of 772 mines in various governorates of Yemen during the fifth week of August 2023. This includes 718 unexploded ordnances, 41 anti-tank mines, nine anti-personnel mines, and four explosive devices.

In Aden, the Masam project’s team cleared 188 unexploded ordnances and 18 anti-tank mines. It also cleared one anti-tank mine in Al-Hudaydah, 15 unexploded ordnances in Al Khawkhah, 13 anti-tank mines, and one unexploded ordnance along with two explosive devices in Hays. Additionally, it also dismantled eight unexploded ordnances in Al-Madaribah district in Lahij.

The team dismantled 400 unexploded ordnances in Marib and seven anti-personnel mines along with one anti-tank mine in Usaylan district. In Taiz, the team managed to dismantle 47 unexploded ordnances in Mukha district, three anti-tank mines and eight unexploded ordnances in Mawza district, five unexploded ordnances and two explosive devices in Sabir district, and two anti-personnel mines along with five anti-tank mines and 46 unexploded ordnances in Dhubab district.

In August 2023, the Masam project has dismantled 5,110 mines. Since the beginning of the project in June 2018, a total of 413,743 mines have been dismantled, randomly planted in various parts of Yemen to terrorize and harm innocent children, women, and elderly individuals.

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), represented by the Masam project, will continue to support and aid Yemeni people to ensure they can enjoy a decent life.
