Kuwaiti Sheikh Abdullah Al-Nouri charity society, UNHCR ink cooperation agreement

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the Sheikh Abdullah Al-Nouri charity society inked Tuesday a cooperation deal on supporting Syrian Refugees in Lebanon.

The commissioner’s acting representative in Kuwait, Maher Ishaqat, mentioned on sidelines of signing ceremony, that this the third agreement to be signed with Abdullah Al-Nouri society, adding that it is an extension of the strategic partnership between the two and an implementation of “warm winter” donations campaign.

This agreement, commented Ishaqat, aims to provide financial help to more than 2,200 Syrian families in Lebanese refugee camps, to better their living conditions, coping with high rent rates, loans and evacuation risks, as well as the harsh environmental conditions between June and December 2023.

Head of society’s board of directors, Jamal Al-Nouri stated that the cooperation agreements over past two years aided more than 5,000 Syrian families seeking refuge.

Al-Nouri underlined the society’s keenness on coordinating with the foreign ministry and ministry of social affairs for the necessary permits, and affirmed intent on furthering such strategic partnership with UNHCR for the benefit of humanitarian work and aiding refugees all over the globe.
