Nutrition Movement Steering Committee meeting in Yemen


The Nutrition Movement Steering Committee in Yemen held a meeting today,Wednesday, headed by the Minister of Planning and Development in the caretaker government and Head of the Committee, Abdul Aziz Al-Kumaim.

The meeting, which included members of the committee and representatives of relevant government agencies, international organizations and the private sector, discussed the process of updating the multi-sector nutrition plan, the interventions and activities it will focus on and the joint results framework.

Minister Al-Kumaim reviewed the indicators of malnutrition in Yemen, which are getting worse in light of the aggression and siege, stressing the importance of the role of health, agriculture, fish, water, environment, education, social protection, and industry sectors in contributing to eliminating the direct and indirect causes of malnutrition in Yemen.

He pointed out the keenness of the Coordination Secretariat to regularly hold the committee’s meetings to review the level of progress in achiev
ing the goals set in the national priorities for nutrition and its executive plan.

Minister Al-Kumaim called on Yemen’s partners, including donors, international organizations, civil society and the business sector, to rally around the multi-sector nutrition plan, finance it and ensure its implementation in order to get out of this situation that threatens the country’s present and future.
