Secretary-General of Muslim Council of Elders meets Ambassador of Kazakhstan

ABU DHABI, Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, has met with Madyar Menelikov, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the UAE.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation and the ongoing preparations for the convening of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in the Kazakh capital of Nur-Sultan next September, with the participation of the Muslim Council of Elders.

Ambassador Menelikov expressed his country’s appreciation for the great efforts led by the Muslim Council of Elders under the Chairmanship of the Grand Imam of A Azhar, His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al Tayeb, to spread the values of peace and coexistence, in addition to building bridges of dialogue and communication with different cultures and religions, which was culminated in the signing of the “Document on Human Fraternity” in Abu Dhabi 2019 by the Grand Imam and His Holiness Pope Francis, Head of the Catholic Church.

For his part, Judge Abdelsalam affirmed that Kazakhstan plays an important role in countering extremist ideology in the Central Asian region, expressing the Council’s aspiration to enhance cooperation with Kazakhstan to promote the values of brotherhood and coexistence among Kazakhstan’s youth, through interfaith dialogue initiatives and other initiatives aimed at promoting the values of dialogue and peace.
