UAE a global model in humanitarian work: DoH Chairman

ABU DHABI, Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Hamed, Chairman of Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), on the occasion of the World Humanitarian Day, said the world looks to the UAE, who continues to celebrate the inspiring legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan as the foundation in making the country a home for humanity and an international model to follow in the values of giving and tolerance.

On the occasion of the World Humanitarian Day, Al Hamed stated that under its wise leadership, the UAE continues its inspiring journey of giving and serving humanity everywhere. “Amid the challenges imposed by the pandemic, the UAE has extended its help and stood out as one of the leading countries to support humanitarian initiatives and join international efforts to safeguard the health and safety of all people from different walks of life. This was also reflected when building the Emirates Humanitarian City, which welcomed nationals from neighbouring countries to provide them with the best medical care possible,” he explained in a statement.

The UAE took advantage of its solid infrastructure and healthcare capabilities to test samples collected overseas and spared no effort in participating in clinical trials of vaccinations and promising medicines. It also supported medical and scientific research studies and distributed and transported, through the ‘Hope Consortium’, more than 260 million vaccines to the world, he further added.
