Ukraine began exporting grain through Croatian ports with the aim of increasing its export routes in light of the continued blockade of its ports on the Black Sea.
First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Sviridenko, said in a statement today, Thursday, that her country began exporting grain through Croatian ports, following an agreement with the Zagreb authorities on the possibility of using its ports on the Danube River and the Adriatic Sea to export grain, expressing Kiev’s gratitude for Croatia providing this possibility.
She stressed Ukraine’s readiness to develop this route by expanding the capabilities of the transport corridor, adding, “We believe that this logistical route will play an important role in bilateral trade between our two countries even after the end of the war,” without disclosing the quantities that have already been shipped through these new ports.
A week ago, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba announced his country’s agreement with Croatia on the possibility of using its ports on the Danube River and the Adriatic Sea to export grains, following Russia’s refusal to extend the Grain Initiative Agreement, conditioning its extension on removing all obstacles facing Russian banks and financial institutions./End
