UNRWA Commissioner General Confirms Agency’s Keenness to Deliver Humanitarian Aid to Gaza Strip

Riyadh, UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini stressed that the unconditional delivery of humanitarian aid and meeting the enormous humanitarian needs in the Gaza Strip is one of the things that UNRWA is keen on despite the Israelis’ refusal to the entry of all trucks and allowing only a limited number that does not meet the requirements of the affected population.

He said in his speech during the Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit, held in Riyadh today that the military operation of the Israeli forces pushed many Gazans out of their homes, in addition to the loss of life that exceeded 10,000 people, most of them women and children. He added that approximately 101 of the UNRWA staff were killed in the conflict in Gaza.

The Commissioner-General of UNRWA highlighted the profound sense among the population in Gaza of being deprived of basic human rights and the feeling of abandonment by the international community. During the Paris conference aimed at supporting Palestinians in Gaza, he issued a warning regarding the perilous consequences of double standards and the dehumanization of Palestinians, as well as the ongoing displacement they face. Additionally, he expressed concern about the potential spillover of the conflict to other areas, particularly the boiling point reached in the West Bank due to violence inflicted by Israeli forces upon Palestinian civilians.
