HE Minister of Transport Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti affirmed that Qatar’s transportation infrastructure is on par with the latest global systems and represents a true legacy for the future through proper planning in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
He cited the technology and crowd management used during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which has left a tangible legacy that will be utilized for the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency , His Excellency stated that the “Sustainable Transportation and Legacy for Generations” Conference and Exhibition that was organized by the Ministry of Transport (MoT), under the patronage of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, was to familiarize the public in Qatar of the technology used in the transport sector, notably in the buses as only a few use them.
He explained that the technology included in the sector today is comparable to the latest international technologies. The technology was implemented in port maintenance, navigational aids, and cleaning ports from impurities and oil stains using the latest environmentally friendly methods.
Through the “Sustainable Transportation and Legacy for Generations” Conference and Exhibition, a better understanding was established and the conference also opened doors for discussion of future plans, Al Sulaiti said.
He noted that the ideas that were being discussed previously are now a reality, revealing that the rate of operation of electric buses has reached 70 percent during the current year, and a steady pace of transforming the public transport bus system into 100 percent electric buses by 2030, which falls in line with the Qatar National Environment and Climate Change Strategy.
HE Minister of Transport Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti concluded his statement to QNA by stressing the importance of supporting the private sector, especially since Qatar adopts individual policies to support the sector, as well as encouraging private companies to adopt the Ministry’s vision and common ideas, noting that the MoT supports the sector by facilitating access to global markets.
