UAE, Nepal Discuss Prospects For Future Labour Cooperation

His Excellency Dr Abdul Rahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and His Excellency Krishna Kumar Shrestha, Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security of the Republic of Nepal, discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two friendly countries in the field of labour.

During the meeting, held at the Ministry’s office in Abu Dhabi, both sides reaffirmed their common endeavor to enhance bilateral relations in pursuit of mutual interests.

The meeting reviewed the country’s labour market legislation system, which affirmed the guarantee of labour rights in a balanced manner.

The Nepali minister lauded the great and remarkable efforts made by the UAE in hosting and organizing Expo 2020 in Dubai and congratulated the UAE for the resounding success of this global event, which embodies the country’s development and openness to the world.

His Excellency appreciated the measures and decisions taken by the state to counter the negative impact of the COVID 19 pandemic. This has had a significant impact on easing labour market constraints in the country and supporting workers, and thanked the state for its care and attention to Nepali workers.

The meeting was also attended by Iknarra Ayan Ariel, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security of the Republic of Nepal, Krishna Prasad Dhakal. Ambassador of Nepal to the United Arab Emirates, and Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, Assistant for Communications and International Relations.

The UAE-Nepal Joint Committee on Manpower met where prospects for future cooperation on a number of common issues were discussed, including the recruitment and employment of Nepali workers in the country’s labour market.
